İsmail Hakkı Polat graduated from the Middle East Technical University, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1989.
In his professional career between 1989 and 2004, he worked in different positions from engineering to senior management in the world’s leading telecom companies such as Siemens, Nortel, Ericsson and Turkcell.
He has been teaching New Media at Kadir Has University since 2004 and has been establishing the new media services of local media groups such as Doğan Media Group, Sabah/ATV Group and Ciner Media Group as an active consultant.
He also worked as a freelance consultant at BBC Media Action in the preparation of the New Media Journalism Curriculum at Baku Slavic and Baku State Universities.
Polat is the founder of Turkey’s first New Media University Department at Kadir Has University, and he is also the Founding President of the Digital Transformation Association in Turkey, as well as authoring a Mobile Journalism course module at the Open School of Journalism in NYC.
As one of the leading Blockchain & Cryptocurrency (BC&CC) university faculty members, he also serves as a consultant and mentor to several crypto startups and an invited speaker for selected events such as the World Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Summit2018, Blockchain2020, and many other events.
Polat also has a column on Bloomberg BusinessWeek Turkey where he shares his views on #NewMedia, #DigitalTransformation and #CryptoCurrencies on a weekly basis.
